Early Childhood Qualification Code Updates (CHC30125 & CHC50125)
KKTC Education is transitioning to the latest CHC Community Services Training Package releases for Early Childhood Education and Care. The qualification outcomes remain the same, but the qualification codes (and some requirements) have been updated.
Updated codes:
- Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care: CHC30125 → CHC30125
- Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care: CHC50121 → CHC50125
For centres: If you store qualification codes in HR systems, training matrices, position descriptions, job ads, or compliance registers, please update to the new codes.

What’s changing?
- The qualification codes have been updated to the current versions on the national register.
- Both new qualifications are mapped as equivalent to the superseded versions (so the outcome is the same).
What you need to do
- Update internal references (HR / training documents) from CHC30125 → CHC30125 and CHC50121 → CHC50125.
- Send this page to your team (Nominated Supervisor / Educational Leader / HR / onboarding coordinator).
- If you’re hosting placements or trainees, keep doing what you’re doing—KKTC will manage the training product transition in line with ASQA transition requirements.
What centres should update (checklist)
Most centres will want to update the codes anywhere they appear, including:
- KKTC Education flyers that are displayed in centre (please reach out if you need new copies!
- Job ads and position descriptions (e.g., “Cert III Educator”, “Lead Educator”, “Responsible Person” role requirements)
- Partnership documents (RTO service agreements, placement agreements, traineeship paperwork)
- Internal “approved training” lists for professional development
Certificate III update: CHC30125 → CHC30125
CHC30125 remains the nationally recognised Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, aligned to work in regulated ECEC services and approved learning frameworks.
1) Updated child protection unit (core)
The key change listed in the qualification mapping is a major change to replace CHCPRT001 with CHCPRT025 (Identify and report children and young people at risk) in the core.
2) Packaging and workplace expectations (quick facts)
- Total units: 17 (15 core + 2 electives)
- Workplace hours: at least 160 hours in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia
- Entry requirements: none listed
- When you’re verifying staff training or recording PD/quals, you may now see CHC30125 on enrolment paperwork and certificates.
- If you reference the old code in job ads or role requirements, update it to CHC30125 to avoid confusion.
Diploma update: CHC50121 → CHC50125
CHC50125 remains the nationally recognised Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, preparing educators for higher responsibility roles including curriculum planning, compliance and leadership within ECEC services.

A national transition period applies when training products change. KKTC Education will manage student transitions, certification and course delivery requirements in line with ASQA guidance.
If you’re an employer/centre hosting placement or trainees, you generally won’t need to change your day-to-day approach. This update is primarily about correct codes and current requirements.
