- Submit your application — either directly through the KKTC website, or through one of KKTC's authorised education agents (see Education Agents below).
- Provide supporting documents — certified copy of your passport, English-language proficiency evidence, academic transcripts, and any prior qualifications relevant to the course.
- Pre-Enrolment Skills Evaluation. Before an offer is made, KKTC reviews your existing skills and qualifications, your language, literacy and numeracy, and your digital literacy, and interviews you (in person, by phone or online). This is a requirement of the Standards for RTOs 2025 and helps us confirm the course is right for you and identify any support you may need. Any credit transfer or RPL you may be eligible for is identified at this stage.
- Letter of Offer and Written Agreement issued. If your application is accepted, KKTC issues a Letter of Offer and a Written Agreement that sets out your tuition and non-tuition fees, refund arrangements, your obligations, and KKTC's obligations under the National Code 2018 and the ESOS Act 2000. Read both carefully before you sign.
- Sign and pay the enrolment fee and deposit. Sign and return the Letter of Offer and Written Agreement, and pay the $500 enrolment fee and the $1,000 tuition deposit set out in the Letter of Offer. All fees are paid directly to KKTC — never to an education agent.
- Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) issued. KKTC issues an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment via PRISMS — the Provider Registration and International Student Management System. For Packaged Courses, you receive one eCoE for each qualification.
- Apply for your Subclass 500 Student Visa — online via the Department of Home Affairs (immi.homeaffairs.gov.au), or through a registered migration agent (mara.gov.au). KKTC and its education agents cannot give you migration advice.
- Arrange Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) and travel. OSHC must cover the full duration of your visa.
- Compulsory orientation at KKTC at 8:30AM on your commencement date. This covers campus facilities, support services, course progress requirements, placement (including your Working with Children Check), your visa conditions, employment rights, and the complaints and appeals process.
International Training Timetable
2026 - 2028 Schedule
International Training Timetable
2026 - 2027 Schedule
To undertake an Early Childhood Education and Care qualification with KKTC, you must:
- Be an international student
- Be 18 years of age or over at the date of course commencement. KKTC does not enrol overseas students under 18.
- Demonstrate English language proficiency at IELTS 6.0 overall (no individual band below 5.5), or an accepted equivalent: PTE Academic 50 (no communicative skill below 42), TOEFL iBT 60, Cambridge English (Advanced or Proficiency) 169 overall (no skill below 162), or successful completion of an approved ELICOS program. KKTC also conducts an in-house English placement test as part of the application process for some applicants.
- For the CHC50125 Diploma, meet one of the following training package entry requirements: • hold a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care — CHC30125, CHC30121 or CHC30113; or • hold an Australian Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, or an Australian Diploma or Certificate III in Children's Services, and have at least 12 months of verifiable full-time-equivalent employment within the last 5 years in a regulated education and care service in Australia; or • hold the CHCSS00147 Entry into Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care skill set. If you enrol in the Packaged Courses, you meet the Diploma entry requirement by completing the Certificate III component.
- Be eligible for a visa that permits full-time study in Australia (Subclass 500 Student Visa). KKTC’s electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) is required for your visa application.
- Demonstrate sufficient financial capacity for tuition fees, OSHC, and living expenses while studying in Australia.
- Hold, or be able to obtain before placement commences, a Working with Children clearance for the state in which you will complete your placement — a Queensland Blue Card for Queensland placement [and/or a NSW Working with Children Check for New South Wales placement]. KKTC operates a "No Card, No Start" rule — see Working with Children below.
- Every application is individually assessed. Meeting the minimum entry requirements does not guarantee an offer. Final eligibility for a Subclass 500 Student Visa, including the Genuine Student requirement under Ministerial Direction 111 (and any subsequent direction), is determined by the Department of Home Affairs, not by KKTC. KKTC and our education agents can assist you with course selection and the application process; only a registered migration agent (mara.gov.au) or an Australian legal practitioner can give you migration advice.

KKTC delivers the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, or both as a dual qualification. The two qualifications differ in level, duration, and what they prepare you to do. Packaged Courses — CHC30125 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care & CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
Many international students choose to enrol in the dual qualification — Certificate III followed by Diploma, totalling 94 weeks of study. Each qualification is reported separately on its own electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE), and the dual qualification offers a discount on the combined total fee.
- Total duration: 94 weeks
- Total Tuition Fee: AUD $18,000 (onshore) / AUD $23,000 (offshore) — a discount on enrolling in each qualification separately
- Principal course: The Diploma is the principal course for dual students under National Code 2018 Standard 7. This means the six-month transfer-restriction period under Standard 7.1 attaches to the Diploma, not to the Certificate III. Your Letter of Offer and Written Agreement explain this in detail.

The Australian Government explains your rights and responsibilities in the ESOS framework fact sheet at https://www.education.gov.au/esos-framework/resources/international-students-factsheet
- Deferring, suspending or cancelling your enrolment - You may apply to defer or temporarily suspend your studies on compassionate or compelling grounds. KKTC may suspend or cancel your enrolment for misbehaviour, non-payment of fees, or unsatisfactory course progress after an intervention strategy has been applied — you will always be told in writing and have 20 working days to appeal before any change is reported. The full grounds and process are in the Deferment, Suspension and Cancellation Policy and your Written Agreement.
- Recognition of Prior Learning and credit transfer - If you have completed units at another Australian RTO, or have relevant skills and experience, you may be eligible for credit transfer or RPL. This can shorten your course. Any credit granted before your eCoE is issued is reflected in the course duration on your eCoE.

- Pre-Enrolment Information document - Everything on this page, and more, is set out in KKTC's Pre-Enrolment Information document, which you should read before you apply: Click here to read.
The full Refund Policy is set out in your Student Written Agreement and Letter of Offer. Some refund scenarios are governed by the ESOS (Calculation of Refund) Instrument 2024 and are prescribed by Commonwealth law; those calculations cannot be modified by KKTC. The table below summarises the main scenarios. The complete schedule, including the appeals process, is in the Cancellation of Enrolment Policy, your Student Written Agreement, and the International Student Handbook.
Circumstance | Refund |
Visa refused before course commencement (with written evidence from the Department of Home Affairs) | Refund of the course fees KKTC has received (tuition and non-tuition), less the lesser of 5% of those fees or $500 (ESOS Instrument 2024 deduction). Paid within 14 days. |
Withdrawal 10 or more weeks before commencement | 100% of pre-paid tuition fees refunded, less the $500 Enrolment Fee. |
Withdrawal 6 to less than 10 weeks before commencement | 90% of pre-paid tuition fees refunded, less the $500 Enrolment Fee. |
Withdrawal 4 to less than 6 weeks before commencement | 75% of pre-paid tuition fees refunded, less the $500 Enrolment Fee. |
Withdrawal 2 to less than 4 weeks before commencement | 50% of pre-paid tuition fees refunded, less the $500 Enrolment Fee. |
Withdrawal less than 2 weeks before commencement | 25% of pre-paid tuition fees refunded, less the $500 Enrolment Fee. |
Failure to commence without notice (no-show) | No refund of tuition fees. The $500 Enrolment Fee is also retained. |
Withdrawal or cancellation after commencement | KKTC retains tuition for the weeks of the course already delivered, charged at the weekly tuition rate, plus a $500 administrative fee. Any pre-paid tuition above this amount is refunded. |
KKTC fails to start, ceases to deliver, or is otherwise unable to complete the course (provider default) | Full refund of all unspent pre-paid course fees, paid within 14 days. KKTC may alternatively offer placement in a suitable alternative course (you must accept in writing). |
Compassionate or compelling circumstances after commencement (with evidence) | The CEO may waive some or all of the amount KKTC would otherwise retain. Assessed against the Cancellation of Enrolment Policy. |
Cancellation by KKTC for misconduct, non-payment, or unsatisfactory course progress (after intervention) | Refund calculated on the weekly pro-rata basis above. No cancellation is finalised until your appeal rights are exhausted. |
How the after-commencement calculation works
Once your course has started, the tuition KKTC retains is worked out week by week: the weekly tuition rate multiplied by the number of weeks delivered up to your cancellation date, plus a $500 administrative fee. Anything you have pre-paid above that amount is refunded to you. The weekly tuition rate for the Packaged Courses is $186.17 per week (onshore) or $239.36 per week (offshore); single-course weekly rates are set out in your Student Written Agreement.
Refunds are processed within 14 days of KKTC receiving a complete Refund Application Form for provider-default and visa-refusal-before-commencement cases, and within 28 days for all other cases. Refunds are paid in Australian Dollars to the person named in the Student Written Agreement, unless signed written direction is given to pay another specified person. To request a refund, contact KKTC at international@kktc.com.au.
Nothing in this Refund Policy limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
If KKTC cannot deliver your course in full and cannot provide a suitable alternative, the Tuition Protection Service (TPS) places you in a suitable alternative course at no additional cost or pays a refund of your unspent pre-paid tuition fees where no suitable placement is available. The TPS is established under the ESOS Act 2000 and operates independently of KKTC. More information at tps.gov.au.
Subclass 500 Student Visa
To study with KKTC as an overseas student, you will need a Subclass 500 Student Visa, granted by the Department of Home Affairs (immi.homeaffairs.gov.au). KKTC’s electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) is required for your visa application.
Â
Your visa is granted on conditions including:
- Maintaining satisfactory course progress (see Standard 8 in your International Student Handbook)
- Maintaining approved Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the full duration of your visa
- Notifying KKTC of your Australian residential address, phone number and email within 7 days of arrival, and of any change within 7 days
- Complying with applicable work-hour limits — currently 48 hours per fortnight during course sessions, unlimited during scheduled course breaks. Always check immi.homeaffairs.gov.au for the current rules.
- Total Tuition Fee: AUD $8,500 (onshore) / AUD $11,500 (offshore)
- Prerequisite: None
- Career outcomes: Early Childhood Educator, Childcare Assistant, Family Day Care Educator, Out of School Hours Care Assistant, Playgroup Supervisor, Recreation Assistant, Nanny
Only the Department of Home Affairs can grant, refuse, or cancel a visa. KKTC, your employer, and your education agent cannot.
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)
Subclass 500 Student Visa holders must hold OSHC for the full duration of their visa. Approved providers include Medibank Private, Bupa, nib, Allianz Care, and ahm. Comparison information is available at oshcaustralia.com.au.
Cost of living
The Department of Home Affairs publishes minimum cost-of-living figures that you must demonstrate when applying for your visa. International students on the Gold Coast typically budget AUD $25,000–$30,000 per year for living expenses (accommodation, food, transport, phone, personal items) in addition to tuition fees and OSHC. Confirm current minimum figures at homeaffairs.gov.au before lodging your visa application.
Working while you study
Subclass 500 Student Visa holders can generally work up to 48 hours per fortnight during course sessions and unlimited hours during scheduled course breaks. You are entitled to fair pay and conditions under Australian law: minimum wage, award rates, penalty rates, superannuation, and leave entitlements apply to you regardless of your visa. The Fair Work Ombudsman (fairwork.gov.au, 13 13 94) is a free government service that protects all workers.
KKTC engages education agents to assist with applications and pre-arrival logistics. All agents listed on the KKTC website operate under a written International Education Agent Agreement with KKTC and the Australian International Education and Training Agent Code of Ethics. KKTC reviews agent conduct against National Code 2018 Standard 4.
Â
Education agents listed on KKTC’s website are authorised by KKTC to assist you with course application but are not authorised by KKTC to provide migration advice. Migration advice can only be given by a registered migration agent (mara.gov.au) or an Australian legal practitioner.
Â
You can apply directly to KKTC without using an education agent. KKTC does not authorise any education agent to collect tuition fees on our behalf — all fees are paid directly to KKTC.
KKTC has a documented complaints and appeals process compliant with National Code 2018 Standard 10. Lodging a complaint will not affect your enrolment, your placement, or your visa.
Â
You can raise concerns informally with KKTC’s Student Contact Officer (Product and Channel Manager) at international@kktc.com.au or 1300 048 133. If informal resolution is not possible, you can lodge a Formal Complaint/Appeal Form. Internal review is conducted independently of any decision-maker involved in the original matter.
Â
If you are not satisfied with the internal outcome, you have a right of external review at no cost via the Overseas Students Ombudsman — ombudsman.gov.au, 1300 362 072 within Australia.
Â
The complete KKTC Complaints and Appeals Policy is in the International Student Handbook.

- Pre-Enrolment Skills Evaluation. Before an offer is made, KKTC reviews your existing skills and qualifications, your language, literacy and numeracy, and your digital literacy, and interviews you (in person, by phone or online). KKTC offers a rolling intake throughout the year. This means that, unlike traditional academic institutions with fixed term start dates, KKTC allows students to enroll and commence their training at any time throughout the year. This flexible approach enables prospective students to begin their education without waiting for a new term to start, facilitating a more personalised and convenient learning schedule. If you’d like more information please email info@kktc.com.au!

- Certified copy of your passport (photo page)
- Certified copy of your passport (photo page)
- Academic transcripts (Year 12 / secondary school completion certificates and any post-secondary qualifications)

- Verified Unique Student Identifier (USI) — required before training commences
- Signed Letter of Offer and Written Agreement
- Evidence of payment of the Enrolment Fee and Initial Deposit
- Evidence of Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the full duration of your visa (provided after your visa is granted)
- Application for Queensland Blue Card, or evidence of an existing valid Blue Card
- Evidence of sufficient financial capacity, as required by the Department of Home Affairs for your visa application
