Fee For Service South Australia
Early childhood education and care qualifications, without a traineeship
Fee For Service is an option for students who are not eligible for government subsidised training. You study with KKTC directly and pay the course fee yourself, or your employer pays it for you.
KKTC Education delivers:
- CHC30125 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
- CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
Before you enrol, check whether you’re eligible for subsidised training
It may substantially reduce what you pay. Eligible South Australian students employed under a Training Contract can access government subsidised training. See our Subsidised Traineeships page, or call us on 1300 048 133 and we’ll check with you.
What is Fee For Service?
Fee For Service means you pay for your training directly rather than through a government subsidy. You don’t need a Training Contract or an employer sponsor, and you can enrol at any time.
You study through KKTC’s delivery and complete supervised work placement in a regulated education and care service. When you’re assessed as competent in all units, KKTC issues your qualification.
Fee For Service suits you if you’re not employed as a trainee, if you don’t meet the subsidised eligibility criteria, or if you simply want to start straight away without waiting for a Training Contract to be approved.
Are you eligible to enrol?
There are no formal academic prerequisites. To enrol with KKTC you need to:
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Hold a current Working with Children Check before commencing work placement — you cannot complete this qualification without one
- Hold, or authorise us to obtain, a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
- Have reliable internet access and a computer or tablet for online learning components
- Complete our pre-enrolment assessment
If you’re unsure whether this course is right for you, call us on 1300 048 133 before you enrol.
What you'll pay
| Qualification | Per unit | Units | Total |
| CHC30125 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care | $265.00 | 17 | $4,505.00 |
| CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care | $500.00 | 15 | $7,500.00 |
These are the total tuition fees. There are no additional charges for learning resources or for issuing your qualification. Any optional resources will be disclosed before you pay anything.
How you pay
KKTC Education will establish a 10-month payment plan. The first payment will be due at enrolment.
Credit and Recognition of Prior Learning reduce your fee
You will not be required to repeat a unit you have already been assessed as competent in.
Credit Transfer — if you have completed a matching unit with another RTO, provide your transcript or USI record and we will apply credit. Because our fees are charged per unit, each unit credited reduces your total fee by that unit’s price. There is no charge for Credit Transfer.
Recognition of Prior Learning — if you have relevant skills and experience from work or life, you can apply for RPL assessment against the units in your qualification. RPL is an assessment, not a discount: a unit assessed through RPL still involves work by you and by us.
Apply for both at enrolment. We will confirm your final unit list and total fee in writing before you commit.
Work placement
Both qualifications include mandatory supervised work placement in a regulated education and care service.
- CHC30125 Certificate III: 160 hours minimum
- CHC50125 Diploma: 280 hours minimum
You will attend one day per week for the duration of your course. Placement is unpaid.
Before you can start placement you must hold a current Working with Children Check and meet the service’s immunisation and health requirements.
You will be supervised on placement by a qualified educator, and a KKTC trainer will visit or contact you during placement.
If you cannot meet the placement requirement, talk to us before you enrol.
How to enrol
Here’s the sequence from first contact to starting your course:
- Get in touch. Call us on 1300 048 133 or click Enrol Now to start your application.
- Complete your pre-enrolment assessment. We complete a short assessment with every student. It confirms the course is the right fit for you, and identifies any language, literacy, numeracy or digital skills support you may need so we can put it in place before you start. It is not a test you can fail. If we find we cannot provide the support you need, we will tell you before you enrol and help you look at other options.
- Complete your enrolment form and submit your documents.
- We confirm your enrolment. You receive your final unit list and your total fee in writing before you commit.
- Start. You’re ready to begin.
Documents you will need
- Proof of identity
- Proof of address
- Proof of citizenship or visa status
- Your Working with Children Check
- Your Unique Student Identifier (USI)
- Transcripts for any Credit Transfer you are claiming
KKTC will give you a written schedule of fees and charges, and the KKTC Student Handbook with all the relevant policies, before you commence.
Reasonable adjustments and student support
KKTC supports all students to succeed and applies a generalised approach to support — you don’t need to disclose a specific status to access help. Where you do have specific needs, we’ll work with you on what’s possible.
Available support includes:
- Language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills support
- Reasonable adjustments to training and assessment for students with disability, in line with the Disability Standards for Education 2005
- Cultural support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
- Support for students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, including interpreter access on request
- Flexible scheduling where your circumstances require it
- Referral to external wellbeing and counselling services
Tell us what you need at any point — before you enrol or during your course. Call 1300 048 133.
Working with Children Check
You’ll need a current Working with Children Check before you can start your work placement in a South Australian early childhood service. You cannot complete either qualification without one.
Apply through the South Australian Government screening unit at screening.sa.gov.au
