Victorian Government Subsidised Training (Skills First)
To be eligible* for Victorian Government Subsidised Training (Skills First), individuals must:
- Be an Australian citizen, or Australian permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen.
- Reside in Victoria at the time of training
- Students can only enrol in two Skills First-funded courses in a calendar year.
- Students can only ever enrol in two government-funded courses at the same qualification level in their lifetime (e.g., two Cert III courses).
- If a student has already completed a higher-level qualification, they may not be eligible for Free TAFE unless it is a pathway to employment in a priority industry

About the Training
- This is adult self paced blended learning – theory is all delivered through our learning management system and then the practical is assessed in a Long Day Care setting (you do not have to attend class – it is all workplace based training)
- If you are a new entrant to the sector and need assistance in finding a long day care centre to undertake your practical hours – we will locate a long day care centre close to home for you and arrange the placement. For the CH30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care you are required to undertake 160 hours in a long day care setting as part of the training. If you are a vocational placement student to build up the hours often students will start with doing one day per week in the centre to build up the hours required. This is unpaid vocational placement experience.
- All units of competency are delivered through what we believe to be the best learning platform on the training market. All units have been written by KKTC and the learning experience is dynamic with video content, case studies and great resources (You Tube videos, downloadable guides and engaging learning materials)
- The platform is dynamic so the experience is as good as it gets – touch of a button, responsive, easy to navigate
- As soon as you submit an assessment it will be delivered to the KKTC Trainer and Assessor for marking so the experience of progression with training is best in sector (no waiting for assessments, mailing, scanning etc)
- KKTC focus heavily on the practical skills development so not only are the assessments designed to aid theoretical skills but it is the practical knowledge that our college focusses heavily on with our Trainers and Assessors active with Educational Leaders in centre to ensure you are being supported with the practical training (as this is what our sector needs!)
- Our Trainers and Assessors will visit you at your Early Learning Centre every 3 weeks commencing shortly after you enrol.
- KKTC has articulation agreements with Universities so there is a higher education pathway we can offer, should that be of interest in the future.
- We offer a flexible enrolment schedule so learners can enrol and start straight away! We don’t wait for the ‘next semester.’
